Machine Guarding

Description: Machine guards are designed to protect you from the hazards of moving machinery parts. The absence or incorrect use of machine and tool guards can cause serious injury or death. Without proper guarding, loose clothing or hair can get caught by rotating or reciprocating mechanisms. Fingers and hands can get caught in rollers, gears, pulleys, belts, and chain drives. Coworkers working near moving machine parts are also at risk of getting cut, sheared, or crushed unless the machine is properly guarded. This training will describe common hazards associated with moving machinery parts and the requirements and safeguards that should be used to minimize your risk of injury.
